Miami, known as the Magic City, is a vibrant and culturally diverse place to visit. During the fall and winter months, tourism is blooming for solo and family travellers. With me almost being a native Miamiam (I came to Miami when I was 7 years old), I always wonder why visit Miami? Yeah, I said it! Duh!
In some ways, we take for granted activities that are in our own backyard. Well no more! I am going to act like a tourist! First stop is the Wynwood Walls. If you like art, sunshine, and being a little active (walking), this is the place to be.
Wynwood Walls
Wynwood Walls is a remarkable outdoor destination featuring huge, colorful street murals by artists from around the world. Initially, it was conceived in 2009 by the renowned community revitalizer, the late Tony Goldman. Mr Goldman was looking for to transform the warehouse district of Wynwood, and he came up with a simple idea: “Wynwood’s large stock of warehouse buildings, all with no windows, would be my giant canvases to bring to them the greatest street art ever seen in one place.”
Wynwood Walls is between 25th–26th Street and NW 2nd Ave that comprises of six separate buildings. The concept was to create a center where people could gravitate to and explore and to develop the area’s pedestrian potential.
