Why Does She Post So Much?

Several people have stated “why do I post so much about my travels” on my personal Facebook page.  Probably they are thinking that I am bragging and/or saying look at my life.  That is the furthest thing from the truth.  There are several reasons why I post frequently:

1.  Safety
As a woman and a solo traveler, my safety and security are my first priority.  If something should happen, at least the 300 or so Facebook friends will know my last whereabouts.  Furthermore, I post a picture of myself, so they will know what I am wearing.

Lastly, do you remember the movie Taken? I always say “Liam Neeson is not my father!”   Safety is the key!

2.  Meeting other Solo Travelers
You never know who you will meet in your travels.  On a recent trip to Paris, a friend saw my post and told me that she had another friend traveling solo.  That friend and I made contact and we enjoyed exploring the Paris together on Christmas and Boxing Day.  We are now Facebook friends and possible future traveling buddies.

3.  You never know who you will motivate
You know the old saying “birds of a feather flocks together”.  Maybe my traveling will motivate others to travel and see the world.  So far, I have several friends who have been bitten by the traveling bug.

One of the things I try to encourage is to get outside of our comfort zone.  I found this quote and it put everything in perspective “Sometimes we have to stop being scared and just go for it. Either it’ll work or it won’t. That’s life.”

4. Memories
Facebook is great for capturing moments and sharing them later.  I can look back digitally and say “Wow! I did that”

5.  Telling a Story
I love telling a story about my adventurous travels.  Pictures are great but a story can add more depth.  Also, a story can show your personality.   Sometimes those stories do end up on interNATionalcaty Facebook Page and Instagram account.

Lastly and the best part, it is your page and you can pretty much post whatever you want.  At the end of the day, make sure you are doing it for YOU!

I never would’ve viewed it as a safety issue and post away! If people think your bragging who cares?

I love seeing people’s travel pictures, they inspire me and help me plan my next adventures. I never thought about the added safety bonuses of posting before but that’s a really good point!

It’s your feed, you can put as much in it as you want to. I also use facebook to store memories and photos, in case my laptop gives up. I think it’s great that you’re posting, there’s nothing wrong with that in my book. Good point about safety as well.

I admire women who travel alone. It’s brave and daring. As much as I wish I’d be able to do this, I know in my heart I don’t have the passion for it. I’m always concerned about the people around me.

I think it’s perfectly fine to post as much as you want to post. It’s nice that you’re sharing where you are especially if you’re traveling alone. I think these are all great reasons. Keep on posting!

Well, your reasons make sense of course. What bothers me is that if it they really think seeing a lot of you is a bad idea, it’s something they can fix at their side. Here’s to your 2017 travels!

Never be afraid to post on your own personal page. As I always say if you don’t like it you can unfollow me and won’t see anything then. These are great tips on why to share.

This is great and I totally get it! I recently had some bloggers try to ping me for “inappropriate” content because I talk about the tough stuff everyone wants to ignore. I feel like it’s my duty to try to inspire people and let them know that they are not crazy and they are not alone. Keep doing it! Some people are just shitty… but i’m sure you’re inspiring a lot of people to get out and see the world.

Those are all great reasons to post often. That’s fantastic you were able to meet up with another solo traveler for Christmas!

Why WOULDN’T you want to post about your travels on Facebook? I mean, all of your reasons are valid anyway, but whenever I travel I love to post about it.
