Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

Whew! What a Boat Show! I’ve lived in South Florida for over 40 years and this is my second time attending the 60th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. FLIBS, as it’s often called, is known as the “Yachting Capitol of the World”, was a 5-day event that started on Wednesday, October 30. which spanned seven locations from Bahia Mar to Pier 66 to the Broward Convention Center with over 1,500+ boats on display.

I was able to attend all 5-days where I made new friends and introduced first-timers to the Boat Show. With the sun shining, the water glistering, and the beautiful boats, it was a spectacular event. Below is my experience in pictures with some insights.

Water Taxi

The best way to get to the Boat Show is via the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi. FLIBS had a special deal for $60 for the 5-day event or $12 per day. Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi has several types of water taxi, my favorite is the double-decker. You get a great aerial view of the Intracoastal and you can take some great photos.

During the water taxi, you get the see the homes of the rich and famous such Wayne Huizenga (former owner of the Miami Dolphins) or where they filmed Cape Fear with Robert DeNiro.

Oh and one of the best view is the boat show as the water taxi approaches.

The SuperYachts Village at Pier 66

The SuperYachts Village is where the mega yachts are docked. You are probably wondering what is a mega yacht? Well, they are are vessels topping over 300 feet. Yep! The big kahunas. 😊

We even got free hats to help with the heat.

Besides the mega yachts, he Village has “toys” such as helicopters, personal submarines, as well as exotic and collectible automotive.

I fell in love with the helicopter. It seats six comfortably with the pilot and co-pilot. Oh, and the seats are Louis Vuitton.

Before leaving the village, one more shot…lol

Bahia Mar

The main location for the Boat Show is the Bahia Mar right off Fort Lauderdale Beach and Las Olas. Bahia Mar is about 5 miles of floating docks of all types of boats from the luxury to the fishing.

The best part of the show was getting an opportunity to go inside a luxury and a fishing boat.

Luxury Yacht

The yacht also has a sun deck. I couldn’t resist!

Now the sunset and night time was the best.

I was so happy to find cabarnet 😁🍷

If you are planning to buy or just look, the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show is for everyone. It is a great way to spend a day with friends, family or solo.

Make sure to mark your calendar for the 61st in late October or early November. Hope to see you! 🌞🚀😁
