My journey began with anticipation for a swanky flight on Qatar Airways, only to be met with a classic case of bait and switch. Despite my detective work with numerous confirmation calls, I found myself standing at the gate, staring in disbelief at an American Airlines plane. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks – I had been bamboozled. But hey, at least the flight had extra legroom and an empty middle seat, so not all was lost in this comedy of errors.

Then came the layover at Doha Airport, a place where luxury brands reign supreme. As I strolled through the terminal, I couldn’t help but feel like a kid in a candy store with only a few pennies to spare. My ASOS budget quickly reminded me that window shopping was the order of the day. But oh, the dreams I dreamt amidst the glittering displays!

Upgrades and Misadventures
The second leg of my journey held a pleasant surprise – an upgrade! As I meandered through the airport, I stumbled upon a lounge with an exclusive vibe. “Can I access it?” I inquired, hoping my newly upgraded status would grant me entry. Alas, the attendant informed me it was for First Class passengers only. “But I have First Class,” I protested, only to be gently corrected that I was, in fact, in Business Class. My lounge, as it turned out, was on the other side of a gigantic stuffed animal. Because, of course, that’s how one marks a lounge’s location.
Nevertheless, I found solace in my Priority Pass lounge, indulging in a feast of hummus and Arabic bread. Who needs caviar when you have these delightful delicacies?

The true highlight of my layover was the unexpected joy of showering at the airport lounge. After the initial disappointment and the long flight, the hot water washing over me was a moment of pure bliss.
