Well after the misadventure with the ferry, we decided to visit the Castelo de Sao Jorge in Lisbon. I was no longer in charge of directions. It was time for my travel mates to take over. However, when my travel mate is in charge, there is no Uber, metro, trolley, or bus. We walked and walked to the castle that is on top of a hill.
I can’t be mad because along the way, the scenery and views were just phenomenal. Come along for a photographic walk…
Lisbon is not flat and they have a lot of stairways. After 1001 and said no and took the escalator. Yes, judge me lol
Once we got close enough to castle, we had a wonderful of the Targus River and Baixa district of Lisbon.

Castelo de Sao Jorge
The Castelo de Sao Jorge, stands majestically above central Lisbon and was the ancient seat of power for Portugal for over 400 years. The battlements of Castelo de Sao Jorge provides fantastic views of the Baixa district and the Rio Tejo (River Tagus) while the fortified citadel is steeped in history. The excellent vantage point of Castelo de Sao Jorge high above the River Tejo made it a prime defensive position and the site has been used since the Roman era. The reconstructed castle and battlements that can be viewed today are based on the layout from the 11th century and the introduction of Christianity to Portugal, as part of the second crusade. Before 1147 Lisbon was an important Moorish trading port with strong ties to North African heartland.
Even though we took the high road to the Castle Sao Jorge, it was definitely worth the hike up which is the recommended route.
