Seven Wonders of the World

The other day I was talking to a friend about doing a weekend trip to Mexico in January.  My friend wanted to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World that was in Mexico.  I was puzzled as I didn’t think there was one in Mexico.  Upon my research, I found out about Chichén Itza in the Yucatan Peninsula.  Upon further research, did you know that there are several wonders from the ancient to the middle ages, and to the modern world?

Would you believe as I am writing this blog, I am trying to remember what I learned about the 7 wonders of the world.   I definitely remember Giza.  Other than Giza, I am completely blank.

Below is the breakdown of the seven wonders of the world from the different eras.

 The classic (ancient) seven wonders

  • Great Pyramid of Giza.
  • Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
  • Statue of Zeus at Olympia.
  • Temple of Artemis at Ephesus.
  • Mausoleum at Halicarnassus.
  • Colossus of Rhodes.
  • Lighthouse of Alexandria.

Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages

  • Stonehenge.
  • Colosseum.
  • Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa.
  • Great Wall of China.
  • Porcelain Tower of Nanjing.
  • Hagia Sophia.
  • Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Seven Wonders of the Modern World

  • The ancient city of Chichén Itza (pronounced chee-chehn eet-sah)
  • Christ the Redeemer Statue, Brazil. …
  • Colosseum, Italy. …
  • Taj Mahal, India. …
  • Great Wall of China. …
  • Petra, Jordan. …
  • Machu Picchu, Peru.

Also based on the list, I have been to four of the wonders of the world and didn’t realize it as I was celebrating my birthday.  They are
